My Background

Nutrition

I am a Registered Public Health Nutritionist holding a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from Curtin University. Since 2013, I have delivered over 750 quality, personable Nutrition, cooking, gardening and sustainability workshops equating to over 1700 hours of workshop facilitator experience. I deliver Hands on Nutrition workshops that aim to simplify how to make changes to your food habits to achieve better health, live more sustainably and save money. Tailored for adults, youth and children these workshops can include a practical cooking session that gives people the skills and confidence to cook a variety of easy, healthy recipes that they can easily replicate at home.

Project Management

I have developed and managed several health promotion projects with a focus on strengthening the link between growing food and eating more vegetables, fruit and herbs. Utilising my knowledge gained from a Diploma in Project Management from AIMWA, I developed and ran the Garden to Plate project for Foodbank WA from 2013 – 2018 and Grow Cook Eat from 2021 to date. These projects aim to give people the knowledge, skills and confidence to grow food and focus on improving social connectedness at various local community gardens in Mandurah, Bunbury and Rockingham. In 2024, I developed the Food and Friends project, a community development initiative that aims to bring residents together to learn, connect and have fun.

Community Gardens

Working as a project officer in the local government office in Manjimup, I assisted with the establishment or development of seven community gardens in the South West of WA. Based on the experiences and knowledge gained working with these community groups, I have been engaged as a consultant to assist with the establishment of the Lakelands Community Gardens Inc and the Golden Bay Community Garden. I organise bus trips for up to 25 people to visit several community gardens to connect and inspire the volunteers working together at an existing or upcoming community garden.

Event Management

From 2018 – 2023, I contracted to a Rockingham based event management company for 5 years as an event coordinator. I have experience in overseeing large scale community events such as Symphony on The Green 2021 with the the Perth Symphony Orchestra and crowds of approx 6,000, Rockingham Lions Community Fair 2020-2023 and The Catalpa Adventure Festival 2023.

Event Presenter & MC

I am a confident public speaker and have presented at National conferences, such as the World Congress on Public Health in Tasmania and the Nutrition Society Australia conference in Newcastle. I also have given cooking presentations to crowds at large community events such as the South West Women’s Expo, Canning Show, Global Food Festival and the LiveLighter Pinjarra Festival. I have experience as a MC at the Blues at Bridgetown Festival and Town of Vic Parks International Food Festival.

Cooking Demonstrations

In addition to cooking demonstrations at large scale community events, I have experience in delivering cooking demonstrations in shopping centres to activate the retail space. In 2023, I managed and delivered the monthly Savour Saturday cooking activations at the Secret Harbour Square and Wanneroo Central, to prepare a range of recipes, and deliver the clients messages and resources on reducing food waste in the home.
